Scaling Local Solutions for Climate Action

We're thrilled to welcome four outstanding projects to our growing network of grantees. From financial innovation in low-carbon housing to real-time marine emissions tracking and revitalizing rural community spaces, these initiatives are pushing the boundaries of local climate innovation.

These grants were made under two streams: the “Acceleration” stream, which awards up to $75,000 to projects that help build or strengthen partnerships that promote local climate action; and the “Catalyst” stream, which provides up to $10,000 in seed funding for new initiatives.

Acceleration Grant Awards

  • BlueGrid has been awarded $65,000 to develop a real-time emissions and energy profile of Halifax Harbour’s inshore marine fleet.

  • Future Civics has been awarded $65,000 to pilot a retrofit program for rural homes in the Windsor Corridor using community impact bonds.

  • Navigate Energy has been awarded $75,000 to help community halls across Nova Scotia reduce energy costs through its Champions for Community Non-Profit Retrofits initiative.

Catalyst Grant Award

  • Greenii Inc. has been awarded $10,000 to scale up its paper upcycling business in Halifax, which diverts 48 tonnes of waste and avoids 419 tCO₂e annually.
