Champions for Community Non-Profit Retrofits

Many rural and marginalized communities rely on community halls and non-profit centres as vital gathering spaces. With energy bills threatening their viability, Navigate Energy is developing the next phase of a retrofit and rebate model tailored to non-profit infrastructure first piloted in Pictou County.

Supported by an HCi3 Acceleration Grant, this phase includes hiring two Community Champions, conducting 100 site assessments, and building support for a $12.8M capital fund to implement net-zero retrofits across over 160 sites. The project also explores integration with Nova Scotia’s Department of Emergency Management to align resiliency and sustainability goals.

Grant award: $75,000
