A Community-Led Approach to Home Energy Retrofits

Lasting change starts with local knowledge, local leadership, and a plan that’s built by the community itself. That is the idea behind Indigenous Clean Energy’s Bringing It Home Project Accelerator. The project will support Eskasoni Mi’kmaw Nation in planning a large-scale home energy retrofit project with support from HCi3.

Over the next 18 months, community members will work alongside Indigenous and industry experts through training, technical mentorship, and project coaching. Together, they’ll develop a practical, funding-ready plan for deep energy retrofits that can reduce energy use, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the long-term health and efficiency of community homes. Just as importantly, the program will help build the local knowledge and experience needed to lead future retrofit projects, creating a model that can support other Mi’kmaw communities across Mi’kma’ki.
