HCi3 Partners with ReCover on New Retrofit Program

July, 2024

HCi3 is partnering with the ReCover Initiative on a new program designed to help accelerate deep energy retrofits in our region.

On July 18, 2024, the Government of Canada announced an award of $16.5 million to ReCover to implement a Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative (DRAI) in Atlantic Canada between 2024 and 2027. ReCover also received $1 million through the Greener Neighborhoods Pilot Program.

DRAI will accelerate deep energy retrofits in commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential buildings throughout Atlantic Canada, as well as housing within Indigenous communities. The work will involve publishing a strategic roadmap for the deep retrofit industry, providing services and support to property owners and developers, and building industry capacity.

HCi3’s role within this program is focused on increasing understanding and access to financing options for building owners and managers to advance deep retrofits. This will include identifying gaps and opportunities for financing in the Atlantic Canada region and working to implement recommendations, as well as building relationships with new potential financing partners. HCi3 will support capacity building as part of ReCover’s critical work to educate and guide building owners through the planning and implementation of deep retrofit projects.

We want to congratulate ReCover on their incredible hard work and successful application, and look forward to working with them, the Union of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq, the Building to Zero Exchange, and many other project partners over the next three years.
