The Halifax Climate Investment, Innovation and Impact (HCi3) Fund is calling for grant proposals for projects and strategies that seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Halifax region. The program aims to support a broad range of climate solutions while unlocking shared benefits for local communities in the Halifax region.
Potential projects must respond to at least one of the six defined challenge statements outlined in the HCi3 Grant Program Guidelines that tackle emission reductions through deep energy retrofits, electric mobility, shared renewable energy, energy storage and/or community-led ideas for climate action. Applications are being accepted from across Canada; however, the project and its benefits must be located in Halifax Regional Municipality. HCi3 will fund initiatives at different stages of the project cycle, from concept development to project implementation.
HCi3 has total grant funding of $440,000 in 2022. individual grants can be up to $50,000 with larger grants available if the project meets or exceeds the evaluation criteria across multiple categories with a high likelihood of scale-up or replication. Projects must have a minimum of 20% matching funds from sources other than the Federal Government. Through the Grant Program, a pipeline of projects will be created. These projects could be considered for HCi3’s Impact Investing Program that is currently in development.
